Monday December 29th we will be hiking about 6 miles on mostly Army Corp property. We will pass the site for the new Cochrans Mill Shelter that will hopefully be built in 2009 and not get our feet wet as we cross over Cherry Run due to the 2008 volunteer project, a 72ft. suspension bridge. Bring water and something to eat. The hike is rated medium, there is some elevation change. You shouldn't get your feet wet (hopefully) When: 10AM Where: The meeting point is Checkpoint AS 4CP4 from 2007 Baker UltraChallenge. The directions from Kittanning are as follows: Take Rt. 28 to Kittanning to Rt. 422 East. Proceed approximately 7 miles on Rt. 422 and make a RIGHT onto SR2005, Cherry Run Road. Proceed approximately 3.5 miles to Cherry Run Hill Road (not marked) and make a LEFT onto this dirt road. (If you come to North Branch Road on SR2005, you have passed Cherry Run Hill Road.) Proceed approximately ½ mile on Cherry Run Hill road; the creek will be on your right. The road bends to the left and on your RIGHT is a parking area. This is a meeting point. There is no cell phone service at this meeting point. If you want to share a ride call me before Monday. I live in Plum and will leave my house by 9AM but I do not use Rt. 28 to get there. We will shuttle over to the cornfield where there is basically no parking.
