Please join us for some trail work on Burtner Hill, which is located on the eastern section of the Rachel Carson Trail, less than 10 miles from this year's Challenge finish. All participants (Full, Half, Friends & Family) will traverse Burtner Hill as part of the 2026 Challenge course.
Burtner is a big hill with several "sections." Our focus on this workday will include the following:
- Upper Burtner: upgrade switchback we built last year after the effects of winter.
- Upper Burtner: sort out a solution to the steep section after the new switch back.
- Lower Burtner: complete the switchback with steps and a landing area on the turn.
- Lower Burtner: improve the earth steps with either wooden steps and switch backs- or a combination of both.
- West side of Burtner road - install 2-3 guide sections for water abatement.
Consider bringing water and any snacks you might need. If you have work gloves, please bring. We will provide tools. No experience necessary, the more the merrier.
