RCTC Training Hike H

by Dewaine Beard last modified Jul 03, 2009 05:12 PM

On this hike we will concentrate on covering a lot of miles (19.8) actually on the Rachel Carson Trail. This is a longer hike (estimated to be 8+ hours) so please bring a light pack full of water and food as there will be no checkpoints or outside support. We will meet at the Bobwhite Shelter in Harrison Hills Park at 8:00am and carpool to Log Cabin Road and set off. This is going to be an ugly one over the most rugged parts of the RCT so be prepared. To Harrison Hills Park Bobwhite Shelter: Take Route 28 to exit 16, turn east (right if exiting northbound) at the end of the ramp, then right again at the T-intersection with Freeport Road. The park is about one mile down on the left. Take the left fork of the Park entrance road and follow it 1/2 mile to the shelter parking lot on the right at the Bluejay sign. There is a $5 activity fee for this hike.
